How to Delete TikTok Account Permanently (Step-by-Step, 2026)

Step 1

Open your profile and the menu

Open the TikTok app on your phone (tap the TikTok icon like you normally do when you want to watch videos).

At the bottom of the screen you see several icons: Home, Friends, Create, and Profile. The Profile icon is usually the last one on the right and looks like a person. Tap Profile. You will see your own profile page with your photo, username, and your videos.

At the top right of this profile page there is a Menu button. It looks like three horizontal lines (☰), one above the other. Tap that menu icon. A list of options will open (Settings and privacy, Balance, etc.).

Step 2

Go to Settings, then Account

In the menu list that just opened, look for Settings and privacy. It’s usually near the top. Tap it. You will now be on the Settings screen, where you can change things like your password, privacy, and account options.

On this Settings screen, find and tap Account. This is the section that controls your account itself (login, security, and deletion).

On the Account page, scroll down until you see Deactivate or delete account. Tap that. TikTok will then show you the two options: temporarily deactivate your account, or delete it permanently. We want the permanent option, which we do in the next step.

Step 3

Choose “Delete Account Permanently” (not Deactivate)

TikTok will show two choices: Deactivate account and Delete Account Permanently. Deactivate only hides your account for a while; you can come back later. To remove your account and data for good, you must choose Delete Account Permanently. Tap that option.

TikTok will then show a short explanation of what happens (for example: your account will be scheduled for deletion, you have 30 days to change your mind). Read it if you like, then tap Continue or Next.

You may be asked why you are leaving (e.g. “I don’t use TikTok anymore,” “Privacy concerns,” “Other”). Pick any reason that fits—it’s just for TikTok’s records. Tap Continue again.

There may be a checkbox saying something like “I understand that my account and data will be permanently removed.” Check that box to show you understand, then tap Continue one more time. After this, TikTok will usually ask you to prove it’s really you (see Step 4).

Step 4

Verify it’s you and confirm deletion

TikTok wants to make sure that you are the one deleting the account, not someone else. So it will ask you to verify your identity. Usually it will ask for one of these:

• Your account password — Type the same password you use to log into TikTok.
• Or a verification code — TikTok sends a code to your email or phone number. Check your email or messages, enter the code in the app, then continue.

After you enter the password or code, tap Delete Account (or the similar button TikTok shows). A final pop-up will appear asking something like “Are you sure? Your account will be permanently deleted.” Tap Delete (or Confirm) in that pop-up. That’s it—your account is now scheduled for permanent deletion. It won’t disappear instantly: TikTok keeps it in a “deactivated” state for 30 days. If you log in within those 30 days and tap Reactivate, you can cancel and keep your account. If you don’t, after 30 days the account and all data are removed forever.
